MANPOWER PROBLEM

GOVERNMENT HANDLING CRITICISED “WASTE ON EVERY SIDE” (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. Grade 3 men were in camp while Grade 1 men were in funk-holes in the Public Service in Wellington, said Mr H. G. Dickie (Nat., Patea), in the House of Representatives last night, when he criticised the Government for its handling of the manpower problem. In this there was evidence of waste on every side, he declared. Men were being kept in camp when they would be far bet-r ter doing something else. The calling up of men had been lamentably unfair and not in the best interests of the country. Too many men with several dependants were in camps.
