BOTH MUST BE DEFEATED
ATTITUDE TO JAPAN AND GERMANY Chungking, Nov. 24. “Britain will continue the war till Japan is defeated, occupied or has unconditionally surrendered,” Mr H. J. Scrymgeour-Wedderburn, M.P., on behalf of the British Parilamentary Mission, told a Press conference. He added that it was merely a strategic, technical matter whether Germany was defeated first and Japan second, but there was no doLibt in the minds of the British people that both must be defeated thoroughly. Britain would not tolerate a negotiated peace. “Without an occupation punishment of the war criminals is out of the question.” he said. “We must gain a complete victory through the forceful destruction of aggression.” The Finance Minister, Mr Soong, announced that he was going to London at the invitation of the British Government and would then go to Washington.—P.A.
