THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL APPEAL
GROUP SYSTEM SUGGESTED (To the Editor) Sir,—l desire to take this opportunity of drawing attention of Nelsonians to the appeal of the Nelson Patriotic Committee for £3,000. This amount is required to complete their funds for 1942, and if subscribed, no further appeal for funds will be made this year. £3,000 is a modest amount for Nelson City, and there should be no difficulty in raising this sum. providing each and all of us realise the duly, privilege and responsibility. Patriotic services must be maintained. Men of the Forces are giving daily—some of them their lives. All we, as loyal Nelsonian/, arc now asked to do, is to contribute to the Patriotic Funds, so that £3,000 is subscribed. The committee will accept cheques, cash or National Savings Bunds. 1 suggest the adoption of the Group System as follows: GROUPS Citizens, business firms, trade associations, trade unions, groups of employees, c’ bs, etc.: £ 10 to donate £SO each ......... 500 20 to donate £25 each ... 500 50 to donate CIO each 500 100 to donate £5 each 500 250 to donate £2 each 500 300 to donate £1 each 300 400 to donate 10s each 200 Total £ 3,000 Providing these groups are completed, I will gladly make one of the£so group. I therefore respectfully appeal to the citizens, etc., to contribute as much as they possibly can, and join the group most convenient to them. Donations may be forwarded to hon. secretary, Nelson Patriotic Committee, or direct to me. Thanking one and all in anticipation. —I am etc., C. MILNER. Nelson. 12th August.
