MANY FACTORIES IN RUHR RESULT OF R.A.F. VISITS WIIAT PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW • Rec. 11.25 a.m.) Rugby, Aug. 9. Recent attacks on Germany by the Bomber command are shown to have had far-reaching effects by photographs which were taken from the air. The Thysscn steel works, one of the largest in Europe, have been hit dead in the centre by a heavy bomb and live other steel works suffered damage. A coalmine in the Neunkamp district has been put out of action by a direct hit. Zinc and sulphur acid works in Duisberg have been demolished and an extraction plant in a tar distillery has been damaged, also camouflaged tanks and boiler works. Other damage throughout the Ruhr includes warehouses burnt out, silos and storehouses destroyed, and extensive damage to commercial buildings, houses, railway stations and yards.— 8.0. W.
