IRON ORE
MINING PRIVILEGES MAY BE GRANTED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington. This Day. In an amendment introduced in the House of Representatives last night to the Statutes Amendment Bill a section of the Iron and Steel Industry Act, 1937, is modified by allowing mining privileges in respect of iron ore to be granted with the consent of the Minister. Before the Minister gives his consent he must be satisfied that no iron ore produced under the authority of the mining privilege will be used in the manufacture of iron or steel for commercial purposes.
