GOLDEN BAY A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
PLANS FOR FORTHCOMING SHOW REVISION OF SCHEDULE The first meeting of the new committee of the Golden Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in Takaka on Friday evening, when the chief business was revision of the schedule in preparation for the 1942 Show. The president, Mr T. W. Harford, presided over a good attendance of members. In the light horse section, the class for girl rider, under 10 years, was deleted and an additional class included for best troop horse and trooper, open only to members of the 7th Independent Monted Rifles, horses to be regularly used in Mounted Troop work. Two other classes for Mounted Troopers were also added, one for best section of ' eight troopers and the other a jumping competition for half-sections of four 1 troopers. In the cattle sections, classes for best Ayrshire bull and best Ayrshire cow were added to the schedule. The classes open only to members of’ 1 the Golden Bay Boys’ and Girls’ Agri-h cultural Club were the subject of a ! lengthy debate, at the conclusion of 1 which it was decided to advise the j Agricultural Club that the association ! was prepared to include the calf and 1 ] yearling classes in the schedule and find the necessary prize money, pro- : vided the entry fee was Is; if prizes 1 were donated for one of the classes, • the entry fee to be fid. Alterations to the poultry section ‘ were the inclusion of a class for Aus- ' tralorps to replace Barred Rocks, and ' the addition of classes for turkeys. ' It was resolved that the remainder of the schedule remain the same as last 1 year. A suggestion by the secretary (Mr John Winter) that canvassers should ‘ be appointed earlier this year found favour with members and it was ' agreed that canvassers be appointed at the next meeting to be held in a fort ; night's time.
