MOTUEKA TENNIS CLUB
COURTS OFFICIALLY OPENED FOR SEASON The Motueka Tennis Chib’s courts vere officially opened for the season >n Saturday afternoon in the presence »f a large number of members and riends. Mr E. L. Glover, president of the lub, extended a cordial welcome to he visitors and to new members. Speaking to the latter Mr Glover eminded them that no one could iope to get more out of a club than vas put into it. He remarked on the xcellent weather that afternoon and >n the good condition of the courts, he efforts of Mr C. E. Morrison and he club captain, Mr W. Starnes, in naking the courts ready for play beng much appreciated. The club had duty to perform in keeping the ourts from going back in these trying imes and in keeping the game of ennis alive. Messrs V. Potter, P. J. Traig and K. Starnes had joined the 'orces and the club,was proud to be epresented by these members. Mrs E. L. Glover served the first >all and the courts were declared pen for the season. During the afternoon the courts were kept fully occupied with friend, y mat Mes arranged by Mr W. Jtarnes, and those participating thor•ughly enjoyed the games. A delicious afternoon tea was prodded and dispensed by the ]£dy nembers.
