In other sectors a number of our patrols maintaining the initiative gained through bold and determined action all through the summer months continued their offensive tactics with highly successful results. In the south w-cst sector an Australian patrol captured an Italian officer arid destroyed the whole of his platoon. In the same sector another of our patrons ambushed a party of enemy 114 strong, inflicting 40 casualties before the enemy beat a rapid retreat. Our patrol subsequently withdrew without loss. Close by yet another patrol of enemy numbering 50 was ambushed and practically wiped out. Further south a patrol of 30 Italians was surprised and routed, leaving in our hands 15 dead, together with the officer in charge, who was wounded.
