It was not proposed to alter the existing procedure of making appointments to the Legislative Council, under which the qualifications of all citizens were fully considered, stated the act-ing-Prime Minister (Mr Nash) in a. written reply to a question in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Mr W J. Broadfoot (National. Wattomo) had asked if the Government, with a view to effecting a closer relationship between Church and State, would consider appointing representatives of the churches to seats in the Legislative Council.
