RANGE OF PRICES Christchurch, Aug. G. The Grand National Fat Stock Show, judging in which was held on Tuesday, land the Addington sale to-day, drew exceptionally heavy entries, show cattle bcjing forward from all parts of Canterbury. Central Otago, and Southland. These ! sold at good commercial values, but in no j case at fancy figures. The top-priced show steer from Rangiora sold at £29 ;17s fid. and others at £2B. The best pen jof tliroe sold at £27. and other pens at £26 10s. down to £24. Central Otago | steers sold at from £24 5s down, and 1 Southland at £22. The champion heifer ! from Banks Peninsula sold at £26 10s, j other good heifers selling at up to £in! The total entry numbered 790 head, with ; all classes represented. For ordinary commercial cattle there was little change in the market from a week ago. Good beef brought from 42s to 44s a 1001 b. medium to good 39s to 41s. ordinary 36s to 38s fid. Store sheep were a small yarding mostj ■>' ewes of good class. The best of the i two-tooths to lamb early made 34s 6d. and | sound-mouth ewes to 24s fid. Ordinary sound-mouth ewes made 17s to 20s. i About 50 spring lambs were forward, but a oroportion were late hoggets. There was a keen sale, and the best of the real spring lambs ranged from 30s to 35 s. with a few tops to 40s. Average quality sold from 24s to 27s fid, and hoggets at about the same values. The fat sheep entry of more than 8000 head, about, double the usual size, included a good showing of quality. ’ The entry came from a wide field, including the North Island. The market was , erratic, but generally was about a good Is lower than a week ago. with heavy, j tallowy sorts from 2s to 3s lower. Best ! wethers made from 29s to 335. with special I pens to 40s. Best ewes made from 24s to 38s. tops to 34s 4d. The porker entry in the fat pig section was reduced in numbers, and there was a sharp improvement in values of 2s to 4s a head. Prices ranged from £2 Is fid to £3 9s fid. the average price per lb being B'.id to 9lid Baconers showed little change, ranging from £3 9s fid to £4 19s fid, the average per lb, being fi 3 .»d to 6U|d.
