PRAISE FOR Y.M.C.A.
SERVICE TO TROOPS IN MIDDLE EAST (F’rom the N.Z.E.F. Official War Correspondent) Cairo, July 16. A fine tribute to the work of the Y.M.C.A. with the N.Z.E.F. was paid by Major-General Freyberg, at the official opening of the Lowry Hut yesterday. The function was presided over by Mr H. W. Shove, Y.M.C.A. commissioner with the N.Z.E.F “The YM.C.A. has done for us, both here and elsewhere, yeoman service,” said the general. “I wish to thank Mr Shove and the members of the Y.M.C.A. for their very great work. Mr Shove and I have only one bone of contention. He thinks I will not let his Y.M.C.A. staff far enough into the front line.
