RANGE OF PRICES Christchurch, June 18. I Practically all classes of fat stock forward at to-day’s Ashburton sale, which .was held in wintry weather, met with firmer markets. Fat lambs sold keenly, and fat sheep were Is a head dearer Fat cattle were 20s to 25s a head dearer for I best quality and porkers 3s to 4s better, j Store sheep: Ewes in lamb were in ; good demand, the best price being 47s fid | for two four and six-tooth Cornedales. Three-quarterbreds made 19s 3d. Highcountry wethers in forward condition sold to 15s lOd. Fat lambs: A heavy entry of 3200 was forward, containing much good cuality. Full schedule rates were maintained, the tops making to 395. One line of *O2 averaged 35s fid. Fat Sheep: Some good quality wethers were offered and met with a good sale. Ordinal/ sheep also were firmer by up to Is Good wethers made 27s to 30s, with tops going to 32s fid, and ordinary down to 235. Good ewes brought 19s to 235. with extra quality ewes going to 28s. Fat cattle: A slightly smaller yarding was forward, but an improved sale resulted for best steers by up to 25s and for others by 15s Prime steers made from £ls to £l7, with tops going to £18; good, medium lines, £l3 to £l4 10s; light down to £10; best heifers to £l2 10s, tops to £l4 17s fid; good cows £9 to £ll 10s, tops to £l4. Best beef made from 37s fid to 40s a 1001 b, tops to 425; good, medium lines, from 34s to 375. Fat pigs: A keen sale resulted for porkers. Choppeis made £2 8s fid to £6 18s fid, porkers, £1 17s 6d to £3 4s 6d, an average price a pound of 7lid to Bd, baconers, £3 2s 6d to £5 4s 6d, an aver., age price a pound of 6lid to 7d.—P.A.
