GIRLS’ COLLEGE GARDEN PARTY

£2OO FOR PATRIOTIC FUND As a result of the Garden Party at Nelson Girls' College on Saturday a sum of £2OO will be forwarded to the Nelson Provincial Patriotic Fund. A report to that effect was made to last night’s meeting of the College Council of Governors by the Principal, Miss J. Stewart. “At the Garden Party we had a record attendance, the beautiful weather conditions adding considerably to the success of the whole function,” Miss Stewart stated. “Miss Mitchell and the girls concerned deserve special praise for the very attractive display of national dancing. It required much thought and a great deal of work to produce the excellent entertainment they provided. In connection with the afternoon tea arrangements and with the attractive, heavily-laden stalls, I cannot speak too highly of the excellent spirit of co-operation shown by the teaching staff, Mrs Myles and the domestic staff, and the girls, who all worked splendidly to make the Garden Party an outstanding success. We are greatly indebted to the parents of present girls and to many Old Girls whose thoughtfulness and overwhelming generosity were important factors contributing to the success of our efforts.” The Council of Governors passed a motion expressing appreciation of the very fine effort by the staff and girls of the college.
