REVISIONIST CLAIMS

HOPE TO REALISE BY PEACEFUL MEANS NEW GERMAN TACTICS [U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] (Received 30th November, 9.30 a.m.) SOFIA, 29th November. M. Yaneff, a prominent member of the Government Party, speaking in the National Assembly, said Bulgaria would only participate in the war if forced by some necessity. The primary aim of Bulgarian policy was to preserve Bulgaria. He added that Bulgaria had definite revisionist claims which she hoped to realise peacefully. There are signs of a German attempt to secure her aims in the Balkans by a new method. Since it began to become clear that it was not going to be so easy as Herr Hitler had thought to stampede the other Balkan countries into the Axis by means of threats, the Germans have adopted new tactics. They and their agents are now attempting to lull the Balkan countries into a feeling of security by suggesting that Germany is not looking that way at all. Herr von Papen, the German Ambassador to Ankara, is reported to have given the Turkish Government elaborate reassurances. Yugoslavia, which was faced with the necessity of taking military measures, is also now being reassured. Whereas a few days ago Rumania and Hungary were being encouraged to adopt a menacing tone toward Yugoslavia, to-day Count Czaky, the Hungarian Foreign Minister, said in Parliament that Hungary desired Yugoslavia to be strong politically and economically. The German Propaganda Ministry to-day again attacked General Metaxas t,he Greek Prime Minister, for his declaration that Greece was fighting to restore the liberty of Albania.
