The Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting opened in unfavourable conditions, heavy rain and a very strong wind. The track was not greatly afiected by the rain, but it became greasy and slow. The attendance was good, and the totalisator handled £50,566 (win £22,300; place £28,266), as compared with £43,776 10s on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £6789 10s.
