MAITAI CLUB WEEKLY TOURNAMENT PLAYED The Maitai Bowling Club’s usual Wednesday evening tournament was contested by 10 rinks three of which qualified for a play-off Houlker drew | the bye and Stringer beat Masefield. | In the final Houlker got four on the first end due to good drawing shots by Kenning and himself. On the last end | the leads and twos of both sides were | about two yards away but Stephenson drew the shot for Stringer who then I had a chance to equal by trailing the jack about two feet. His two attempts were unsuccessful but nevertheless good ones. The teams contesting the final were as follows: Silke. Martvn. Kenning Houlker <s) and Wilson Stephenson. Stringer (s) PUBLIC SERVICE TOURNEY The Public Service tournament wqs continued last evening when the “B” section was played. Twelve rinks weie engaged and some very exciting finishes took place. A good mmy of the players were playing for the first tune and although many shots went rathar wild at the there was a general improvement as the evening progressed.

-he Public Health team was particularly successful, considering that all four players had had no experience, for after a big defeat in the first game they improved sufficiently to win the next two games, including a sensational victory over P w.D. No 1. Several individual exploits were loudly applauded, the most spectacular event in . tills direction being a brilliant and successful drive by Muller (P W.D) All those engaged in the tournament thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was undoubtgdly the best one yet held. P and T No. 3. (Mrs MacLeod. Mitchener. MacLeod O’Gorman (s). Social Security (Kilpatrick. Goodman MeDomUd, Holmes (s) and Education (Ching. Sanders Alioo. Masefield (s) won all three games, and rinks to win two games were. Public Health. P.W.D. No 1. and Agriculture.

Conseouent upon the decision of the committee to close the first and second year handicap singles, the result is that the trophy goes to Amodeo with five wins to his credit-, and second nlace to Sherlock with three wins. The success of these two players is well merited as they have both been regular in their attendance at the green, and the improvement in their play consistently good.
