SAVING BENZINE

[To The Editor]

Sir. —May I be permitted to pass a few remarks about a paragraph by ‘'Observer” in “The Mail” on Thursday. If “Observer” has his wish granted I think that the saving of benzine wouud not be so great as he thinks: also it would make the lot of some motor-cyclists a lot harder than it is. I have bought a motor-cycle I do not want in order to assist the Empire by saving benzine. I start and stop work between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. I should much prefer to drive the car, and if "Observer” can suggest an alternative to benzine and supply the apparatus for my car I shall gladly use it. and he would be able to sleep in peace as far as I am concerned. If he still has a grouch I will walk to work providing he will walk with me. I know who will get tired of it first—l am, etc., PUBLIC SERVANT. Richmond, 14th June.
