CHINESE ROBBED

PANMURE ATTACK NEARLY £2OO TAKEN [United Press Association] AUCKLAND. 9th January. A Chinese market gardener, Fong Foo Ying. aged 52, was attacked and robbed of approximately £2OO by two men in a market garden at Pilkington road, Panmure, at about 9 o’clock last night. The incident occurred when Fong Foo Ying had gone out to bring in some horres. One man covered his head with a sack and the other hit him on the head with a stone. He suffered fairly severe injuries. The police were immediately advised and Detective A. T. Gillum and Constable T. Jones of the night patrol and Sergeant B. Thompson and Constable McLean of Ellerslie went to the scene. At an early hour this morning they arrested two young men. The police recovered most of the missing money about a mile from the scene of the assault.
