GERMANY'S FINANCE
SAID TO BE IN CRITICAL CONDITION CONTROL OF SAVINGS HINTED AT (U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-CoDyrlght] COPENHAGEN, Bth January. “Politiken” says that Germany’s finances are so critical that Marshal Goering may soon be compelled to control all private fortunes and savings. It adds that Germany must find 2,500,000,000 annually at par for war alone, apart from normal expenditure, whereas the last war cost her 1,750,000,000 annually. All products are now more expensive. The average soldier, including family allowance, costs 170 s monthly, instead of 355. Factories cannot obtain raw material and are taxed out of existence. The French official morning communique states: “During the night enemy patrols were repulsed at various points.”
