SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND [United Press Association] AUCKLAND, 14th December. “This is the worst case of its sort to come before me during the fifteen vears I have been a Judge,” said Mr Justice Ostler in the Supreme Court to-day, when sentencing Herbert Richard Colquitt, who admitted two charges of indecent assault and one of incest. “One charge relates to your daughter, aged 13, another to a daughter aged 11 and another to a daughter aged 10,” continued the Judge. Their safety demands that you be kept away* from them until they are able to fend for themselves. You richly deserve a flogging. You will be sentenced to six years’ imprisonment.”
Other prisoners were sentenced as follows.* John Abraham Peters, unlawful carnal knowledge, two years’ reformative detention; James Ogden Alexander, false pretences, two years’ reformative. detention; John Tahaua, breaking and entering and theft, two years* probation; Nehe Netana, breaking and entering and theft, two years’ probation; Tarei Hotere, breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, two years’ probation; Charles Kitchener Blackmore, unlawful carnal knowledge, two years’ Borstal treatment.
