THE PRESENTATION BALL
Owing to pressure on our space the ! description of the supper arrangements i for the Presentation Ball was omitted i from Thursday’s issue. The supper was | served at the Civic Tea Rooms to the j satisfaction of all. When upwards of f six hundred people have to be catered j for a heavy tax is placed on the initia- , tive and organising ability of those responsible and the proprietors of the | rooms certainly met the occasion well. | The decoration of the tables by Mrs j Care-Cotterell was the masterpiece of an artist. The principal table occupied by Archbishop O’Shea and the official party was marked by beautiful brassware carrying lighted candles and choice flowers and the decoration ol all the tables was extremely effective. Added to this was a most attractive supper arranged by Mrs Cook as the Head of the Supper Committee and her fine band of assistants. With reference to the presentation of th» debutantes there should be added a word of commendation of Miss B Aydon who was responsible for the j training of the young ladies who carried out their ceremony with such per- ! fection. j MATRONS OF HONOUR The Matrons of Honour were Mrs M. O’Sullivan and Mrs P. R. Wilkinson. Mrs O’Sullivan was wearing a frock of mosaic patterned black velvet with a ~ ruched bodice and long pleated sleeves. a I set off with a cameo brooch and gold necklace, and she carried a bouquet r j of berries and autumn tints in old d gold tonings. Mrs Wilkinson wore a frock of wine sateen velvet, a black velvet coat with natural ermine cosy n collar.
