Mr Rosser is president of the brunch.: 1 olu! it is nuclei stood that he handed in his i resignation at the meeting, hut it was stated that ultimately he was persuaded ( 1 uofc to proceed with his resignation. ! Disciplinary measures wore adopted 1 ,; against Mr Rosser for opposing Labour j; candidates at the municipal elections in! lt'3B after he had been rejected as the can- i' didule at a ballot. Discussing at the branch meeting last j e\ tilling was prolracled, and it is believed that resentment was expressed at the action of ihc Labour Representation Committee in neglecting to consult (he branch before taking such a drastic step. Sympathy for Mr Rosser was expressed m view of his life-long service to Labour. Support for Mr Rosser has also come from the Clothing Trad* Union of which lie was a former president. This organisation some time ago suggested to Mr Ravage that Mr Rosser he given a seat u:i the Legislative Council in recognition of his long service io the Labour cause, and at a recent meeting its members re-; solved to support any action that the Lp- j sc in branch might take iu his defence. ! The secretary was instructed to write i t > Mr Savage protesting against the action of the Labour Representation Committee and requesting that it he not allowed to ; interfere in any step contemplated by the New Zealand Labour Party in doing honour to Mr Rosser.
