CELEBRATION OF KING’S BIRTHDAY (U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right] APIA, 10th June. On Friday morning at 9 o’clock a large number of residents, including all nationals and Samoans, assembled at the Administration buildings to celebrate the King’s birthday. The Acting Administrator, Mr A. C. Turnbull, and Mr O. F. Nelson, senior elected member of the Samoan Legislative Council, spoke on behalf of the Fautua. as also did members of the council and Fono Faipule. A guard of honour of returned soldiers and Samoan police was inspected by the Acting-Administrator. The Samoan territorial force made its first public appearance on parade with a platoon of 40 men in the command of Lieutenant A. S. Batty. A Royal salute of 21 guns was fired. A ball at Government House. Vailima, was held in the evening.
