The crew abandoned the stranded Swedish steamer Fotini Carras this afternoon as soon ns the Danish rescue vessel Australian was sighted. The water was then over Ihe steamers’ decks. Yesterday s cables stated that radio messages reported that the Swedish steamer Fotini Carras, of 4466 tons, had struck the Middle Bellona Reef, about 250 miles west of New Caledonia, and was partly awash. The crew numbered between 30 and 40. The Danish vessel Australien was proceeding to the Fotini Carras’s assistance.
