BRIDGE OVER SUNDAY HOLE

DEVIATION ROAD WOULD BE TOO fOSTLV The question of a bridge over the Maitai river at Sunday Hole was the subject of a letter received by Mr H. Atmore. M.P., from the Minister of Public Works recently and sent by the member to yesterday's meeting of the Waimea County Council. Concerning the possibility of a road deviation to obviate the bridge, the cost would be greater than that of a bridge, and it was best to deal with the matter from the aspect of a bridge alone, said the Minister. The cost even of the bridge would be very great, and the matter should be dealt with along the lines of making provision on the Publio Works Department Estimates. A subsidy of £2 for £1 might be possible. It was resolved that the matter be left to the chairman and Engineer to investigate and report.
