OBITUARY
MR C. COTTON JNR. The late Mr Charles Cotton jnr., who passed away recently, was well known in Nelson, having lived here all his life except for a few seasons in his youth when he worked on .stations at Kaikoura and Kekerangu. He returned to Nelson and entered into business on his own account as a general carrier which he carried on until 1914, relinquishing this on account of ill health. He then took over the violet gardens from his mother Mrs Meads, carrying on this business until his death. Mr Cotton was a member of the Nelson Trotting Club and Jockey Club for many years. He was also a very old member of the Independent Order of Rechabites The esteem in which Mr Cotton was held was shown by the many beautiful floral emblems, telegrams and letters received from all over New Zealand. The funeral was also largely attended. The late Mr Cotton is survived by his wife and a family of one daughter and three sons: Mrs R. Ricketts of Spring Grove and Jim, Harry and Dick of Nelson; also seven grandchildren. One daughter. Eva, died three years ago. He also leaves one sister. Mrs Abbott of Upper Hutt. and two brothers. Mr H. Cotton and Mr A. Cotton, both of Nelson.
