NELSON FIRE BOARD

REAPPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES SERVICES TO CITY Councillors E. R. Neale and S. McArthur were reappointed by the Nelson City Council last evening as its representatives on the Nelson Fire Board.

The Mayor (Mr G. L. Page) said the Council wished to thank Councillors Neale and McArthur for their work on the board, on behalf of the Council and the city. Although the Fire Board expenditure was on the increase it was not due in any way to the management of the board but to the increase in maintenance and salary costs.

Councillor Neale (chairman of the Fire Board) said it was hoped to reduce the levy on the Council by £IOO this year. However, that was not to be taken as a precedent.
