WHIPPET RACES
THE NELSON CLUB ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON'S SPORT SATURDAYS EVENTS The Nelson Racing Whippet Club held a sweepstake meeting at Devanny's paddock, Stoke, last Saturday afternoon. The dogs were all in great condition and provided many good races and close finishes. The second lightweight handicap finalists were so close that the judges would not give a decision and as a result the race had to be rerun, to be won by Mr Templeman's Juno Mac. Mr Templeman is to no congratulated on the performance of his dog in winning the two lightweight handicap races. Mr D. McKenzie also is to be congratulated on his dog's fine performances in winning the open handicap and running second in the open hurdles handicap. Other outstanding performances were put up by Mr C. O. ’Haase's dog, and by Mr R. Mayers’ Gold Monarch. The ladies of the social committee provided afternoon tea which was most acceptable.
