CHARGES UNDER BANKRUPTCY ACT

FARMER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL • Doited Press Association! WANGANUI. 30th January. Pleading not guilty to two charges under (he Bankruptcy Act. Robert Wakefield Harris, farmer and land agent, of Marton, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial when he appeared before Mr H J. Salmon, S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. Accused was allowed bail of £IOO in his own recognisance, with a surety of a similar amount. The charges against accused were of falling to keep proper books and incurring debts at a time when he had no reasonable or j robable expectation of being able to pay. Accused, who was adjudged bankrupt cm 3rd August last, when his statement of affairs showed a deficiency of £7152. was publicly examined in October. Mr Bryan Silk, Deputy-Official Assignee at Wanganui, said in evidence today that accused’s books had been correctly kept until 31st March, 1932.
