CLASH OF DATES
SWIMMING CENTRE’S PROTEST * United Press Associatim.l INVERCARGILL, 30th January. A strongly-worded protest is to be forwarded to the New Zealand Surf Association by the Southland Swimming Centre after a motion of protest passed by a meeting to-night against the dates, Saturday, 18th February, and Sunday, 19th February, fixed by the Auckland association for the holding of the New Zealand surf championships at Auckland. These dates directly clash with the New Zealand national swimming championships in Invercargill, which are to be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 14th, 16th and 18th February, with the Annette Kellerman Cup, three-mile open-water swim at Bluff on Sunday, 19th FebruThe protest embodied a request to the Auckland association to alter its dates to allow swimmers attending the New Zealand smimming championship meeting also to take part in the New Zealand surf championships.
