REPRESENTATIVE MATCH AT MOTUEKA

TAPAWERA DEFEATED 57 TO R. SIGGLEKOW The Motueka team, selected to compete in the "K” Cup competition, played a “try out” match with the Tapawera representatives at the Motueka Cricket Ground on Saturday, and gained a narrow margin victory over the visitors by four runs on the first innings. Ideal weather prevailed, and the ground was in excellent order for the game. In the first innings Motueka knocked up 172 runs, J. Sigglekow 32 and M. Thorn 29 being the best individual scores. Tapawera’s strike produced 168 runs j of which total R. Wadsworth contri-1 buted 37, O. Gibbs 26, and P. Gibbs 24. N. Cole gave a good display with the ball, and took five wickets for 31. ! On returning Motueka had 166 on the board for the loss of seven wickets when stumps were drawn. R. Siggle- ; kow batted well for a 57, and E. Scrog- j gins, not out, had 48 to his credit. F.
