PRODUCTION OF BUILDING TILES
DEMAND MET BY NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURES I United Presp AHsoeiationl DUNEDIN, 37th January. As a result of the action of manufacturers in extending the output of their plants, sufficient building tiles are now being produced in New Zealand for all purposes. This statement was made to-day by the Minister of Housing (the Hon. IT. T. Armstrong), who said that the difficulty experienced last year in the form of a shortage of tiles, especially in the North Island, bad now beeu overcome for a time. The Housing Department had been un able to secure sufficient tiles for its pur poses, either in New Zealand or Australia, and had been forced to specify iron roofs for some of its own houses Manufao* turers, however, had extended their plants and were now able to produce sufficient tiles to cope with the demand
