Play was confined to the single: eliminating rounds and produced no surprises, although it could be seen that the standard was high. Results:— Girls singles—Coleen Chester (Canterbury! beat S. Tustin (Wanganui) 6-1, 6-1. W. Smith (North Auckland) beat H. Smith (Manawatu) 6-3, 6-1. J. c. Niehetls (Wellington) beat N. Merrie (Wanganui) 6-1, 6-2. M. Spackman (Otago) beat J. Cross (Wanganui) by default. C. Quinn (Taranaki) beat N. Huse (Wellington) by default. P. Ludlow (Wellington) beat M. Dath (Manawatu), 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. M. Burrell (Canterbury) beat J.
