DECEMBER EXPORT FIGURES The Meat Board is advised that the shipments from Australia, South America and South Africa to the United j Kingdom during the month of December were as follows: — Australia: 132,277 carcases mutton; 861,462 carcases lamb; 52,847 quarters beef (frozen); 30,940 quarters beef (chilled). South America: 2216 carcases mutton, 343,620 carcases lamb; 11,936 quarters beef (frozen); 422,422 quarters beef (chilled). South Africa: 4105 quarters beef (chilled). The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follows: 53,257 carcases mutton; 465,395 carcases lamb; 11,785 quarters beef (frozen); 22,676 quarters beef (chilled). Exports of meat from New Zealand during the three months of the 1938-39 season to 31st December show the following position, the figures for the corresponding period of last season being given in parentheses: Lamb 701,761 carcases (845,317), decrease 144,556: mutton, 433,746 (258,107), increase 175,639; pork, 94,223 (127,982), decrease 33,759; chilled beef, 36,045 quarters (33,571), increase 2474 quarters; frozen beef, 32,984 quarters (37,094), decrease 4110 quarters; boneless beef, 94,342 bags (58,341), increase 36,001 bags. Killings of fat stock for export at all works during the three months were as follows, last year’s figures being shown in parentheses: Chilled beef (quarters), 46,785 (44,121).
