APPLEBY

W.D.F.U. CHRISTMAS PARTY A jolly Christmas party was given at the home of Mrs Cook for the children of members of the Appleby branch of the W.D.F.U. The weather was ideal, and there was an excellent gathering of children who. between races and games, were given ice creams and soft drinks. During the afternoon Father Christmas arrived in his sledge, drawn by a cream pdny. fitter an exciting chase he stopped to give each child a present from the Christmas tree which was on the sledge. As he drove away again, the children gave three hearty cheers for Santa Claus. At the conclusion of the party. Mrs Care-Cottrell, President of the Branch, thanked all those who helped to make the function a success, and especially Mrs Cook, for her kindness in allowing the Branch to have the use of her beautiful grounds.
