ASSERTION BY COMMUNIST PAPER
ALLEGED JAPANESE THREAT (Received 13th December, 9 a.m.) LONDON. 12th December. The Communist paper “Daily Worker’ asserts that, when the Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Arita, demanded a revision of the Nine-Power Treaty on Bth December he also declared that unless such l'evision was accomplished within three months Japan would undertake drastic reprisals against Britain and America in the Yangste Valley, and would also virtually blockade Kong Kong. These threats, says the paper, were conveyed to the British Government by the Ambassador in Tokio, Sir Robert Craigie.
