The Associated Press says there is lit tie doubt that England and America ar; discussing the possibility of reprisal! in the event of Japan instituting a trad< block to China. Recent Japanese state ments of policy revealed that at leas they are toying with the idea of excluding western trade. The Shanghai correspondent of the ‘‘Daily Telegraph” says hat Britisl shipping circles are perturbed by th< report that the Japanese Yangtse Shipping Company, which further threatens the prosperity of British firms, was formed in order to monopolise Yangtse traffic as a step towards controlling Central Chinese industries. CLAIM BY CHINESE RECAPTURE OF TOWNS (Received 13th December, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, 12th December. The Chinese Embassy asserts that the Chinese again recaptured Waichow anc at present are driving the Japanese towards Poklo. The Japanese are nd progressing in Kwangtung. The Chinese recaptured Wutlungling, in Centra! China, and repulsed large forces attempting to cross the river to Lingfen Despite these successes the Japanese assert that the Chinese guerilla campaign is deteriorating.
