The Empire flying-boat Coorong, which arrived in the evening from Koepang with three tons of Christmas mail, was swept ashore and wrecked by an eighty-miles-an-hour gale, which swept across Darwin Harbour late last night. Mechanics and townspeople worked heroically as the Coorong pounded on the rocks and were able to save every bag of mail, but it is doubtful whether the flying-boat, which is valued at £60.000. can be salvaged.
