GIVE MINISTER HOSTILE RECEPTION INADEQUATE SUBSIDY I British Ollieial WirelewHl RUGBY, 10th December. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr W. S. Morrison, who in the House of Commons announced that the Government proposed as an emergency measure to increase from 10s to 20s an acre the subsidy payable to barley-growers under the Agriculture Aet for this year’s crop, met with a hostile reception at a meeting of farmers which he addressed in Lincoln. References to the concession to barley-growers met with the criticism that it was inadequate, and a resolution was adopted expressing lack of confidence in the Government's agricultural policy.
