EXEMPTION PERIOD EXTENDED GREYMOUTH, Bth December. Four notices are published in this j week’s “Gazette” by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sulli- ■ van. They relate to four industries ' licensed under the Industrial Efficiency ’ Act, 1936. The industries referred to ■ are the manufacture of cement, Port- ‘ land and other structural or building ! cement; the manufacture of batteries : or cells, commonly known as dry cells) i the taking of oysters from oyster beds: and the export of fish, whether i fresh or preserved. 1 Under the earlier “Gazette” notices ; whereby these four industries were de- ■ dared as licensed ones, those persons 1 who were then engaged in carrying on ■ the respective industries were exempted ! i i from applying to the Bureau of Indus- ! I j try for licenses till !st December, 1938,1 I | The effect of the four notices now pub- ; lished is to extend the exemption to Ist January, 1940. ■ In a statement to-day Mi Sullivan I said licenses had been issued or were now proposed to be issued in respect ol all industries licensed under the Industrial Efficiency Act except in six “I referred last week to the extenLsion of the exemption period for the j storage battery industry until Ist April 1939.” said Mr Sullivan, “and in July! i * referred to the extension to Ist Janj ua ry, 1940. which was made concerning j the taking of fish for sale.
