YACHTMASTER’S TICKET
NEW REGULATIONS ISSUED SEA EXPERIENCE NEEDED I United Brews Association) WELLINGTON. This Day. Regulations of particular interest to yachtsmen in New Zealand waters were issued with last night’s “Gazette.” They deal with the qualifications necessary for the issue of a yachtmaster’s certificate. Under the old regulations it was not necessary for an applicant for a yachtmaster’s certificate to have spent any specified time at sea, his qualifications being tested actually on his seamanship at the time of examination. Now it will be necessary for an applicant to have served for at least three years on a seagoing yacht before he can qualify for his ticket. The old qualification of ownership or part-ownership of a yacht has been eliminated in the new regulations. Yacht clubs throughout the Dominion will be required to vouch for the fact that applicants who are members of their clubs have served the necessary three years on a seagoing yacht before sitting for the examination.
