TAPAWERA

TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY To do honour to Miss Sadie Fenemor on the occasion of her reaching her majority, an exceptionally large assemblage of local residents, along with several car-loads from as far away as Motueka and Riwaka, were greeted in the Tapawera Hall last Tuesday evening by Mr and Mrs S. Fenemor. Dancing was indulged in till approximately 11.30 p.m., when the guest of the evening, who was attired in a Marina blue taffeta relieved with lemon and a lemon spray, amidst hearty applause cut the beautiful rich birthday cake which had been presented to her by her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs Welby Stilwell, of Riwaka. Each one of the 130 appreciative guests were served with the customary morsel and the toast, which was proposed by Mr Harry Smith (of Motueka) was honoured in no spiritless manner. Each approved of the deserving praises which were showered on Miss Sadie Fenemor, and Mr C. Fenemor, on behalf of the ycung lady, thanked the party for their kind remarks an'd good wishes.

A second toast to Mr and Mrs Spence Fenemor was then proposed by Mr Chas. Warnes, who related his long friendship with Mr and Mrs Fenemor, whom he claimed to be among the most highly respected residents in the district. Mr Fenemor, on behalf of himself and Mrs Fenemor, offered his sincere thanks to all present and wished them a happy evening. Further dancing to the gay tunes of Kenyon’s Orchestra followed until at a late hour the singing of "Auld Lang Syne” ended one of the most enjoyable parties held in Tapawera for some time. An examination of the numerous and valuable gifts evidenced the popularity of Miss Sadie Fenemor. M r Percy Farghcr proved a splendid M.C.
