FIRST STEP
TOWARDS ECONOMIC DISARMAMENT ANGLO-AMERICAN TRADE AGREEMENT (Received 30th November. 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, 29th November. The American Ambassador, Mr Joseph P. Kennedy, at a luncheon given by the American Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the signing of the Anglo-American trade agreement, said
that in it they could realise the rebirth of common sense in international economy and the first step towards economic disarmament. The President of the Board of Trade. Mr Oliver Stanley, said the agreement was not a political move in a political bargain, but nevertheless he would stress its political value. The agreement, so far from destroying the Ottawa agreements, he continued, had left them unaffected. It was a step towards the attainment of the goal of peace.
