NEW ERA

ANGLO-ITALIAN AGREEMENT VISIT OF BRITISH MINISTERS TO ROME MUCH TO DISCUSS I British Official Wirelenal (Received 30th November. 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, 29th November. Welcoming the announcement that Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halifax are to pay a visit to Rome during the Parliamentary recess, “The Times” says: “The Anglo-Italian Agreement is manifestly the beginning of a new era as well as the closing of the old one, and Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halifax are going to inaugurate it with Signor Mussolini in person.” “The Times” continues: "When the British Ministers reach Rome there will be much to discuss, notably Spain and colonial collaboration. Spain is certainly a case where the views of Italy and Britain are not identical, but that is all the more reason for talking them over, and if the talks have a successful outcome they undoubtedly will not be of benefit to Britain and Italy alone.”
