AUSTRALIA AND UNITED STATES

MOVE FOR TRADE PACT MR BRUCE TO VISIT WASHINGTON lU P A —Bv Electric Telegraph—Cop.vrlghtl WASHINGTON, 28th November. News of an impending visit to Washington by Mr Stanley Bruce, Australian High Commissioner in London, in order to take up the question of a trade agreement between Australia and U.S.A., was received too late for comment, the Government offices being closed. The first reaction, however, was that Mr Bruce would arrive when the lead-

ing members of the State Department would be at the Pan-American Conference in Lima. Therefore he is not considered likely to have an opportunity for authoritative conversations except with the socalled Trade Agreement Department, unless the State Department, knowing that he is coming, has designated a special representative to consult with him.
