GARDEN COMPETITION

ARRANGED BY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The garden competition of the Nelson Horticultural Society is designed to encourage pride in the home garden, also to help Nelson live up to the name of the garden of flowers. It is not for Society members only, but is open to the general public. There are two competitions, one for garden frontage as viewed from the street, open to those who do not regularly employ professional help, and one for garden competition to be judged on arrangement and general effect and quality of flowers and vegetables. There are two challenge trophies which are on view at Buxtons, Trafalgar Street. Entries close on Thursday, Ist December, and may be made with the secretary, Mr N C. Austin, until that date. Judging will be carried out in the second week oi December. All gardens must be within a five-mile radius of Nelson G.P.O.
