J In the course of his Karamea tour, the Minister of Mines, Mr Webb, received a deputation in the Wangapeka j Valley which asked for protection from' river erosion. The settlers were in • constant fear, it was stated, of encroachment on their properties by the Little Wanganui River, which from time to time, particularly since the 1929 j earthquake, had swept away much of j their best land, carrying with it cat- j tie and doing other serious damage. The Minister promised to confer with ; the Minister of Public Works on the ! subject.
