Thu left hand of Donald Valentine, aged 15, New PlymovtJi, whs blow <4f this afternoon by an explosion of homemade gunpowder, which he struck with a hammer. After an operation in the New Plymouth hospital liis condition was reported to be satisfactory. FARMER SEVERELY INJURED NEW PLYMOUTH, 23rd November Serious injuries to the head and fa«-o were received by Thomas Mills, uged 28, fanner, Pembroke Road, Stratford, tin* afternoon when blasting powder stored i i a shed on the farm of his father, Mr A M. Mills, exploded prematurely. He was admitted to the Stratford hospital, where his condition was reported to-night to be satisfactory.
