CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL

[From Our Own Correspondent] Bright, cheery and gay was the ; Takaka District High School children’s fancy dress ball held in the Oddfellow's Hall, when some 140 happy children | danced to music supplied by Mrs Val ! Page (piano) and Mr G. Steel (guitar). I The fancy dresses of the children j were really beautiful and attractive, j and one could give the. greatest of | i credit to the head teacher and staff and I parents of the children, for the great i amount of work done in the general arrangement and appropriate dresses for the evening, and to the onlooker it could only be said, that Takaka certainly excels in functions of this kind. Both financially and socially the evening was a great success. Prizes were given for best and most original costumes, and the following were the winners:— Junior Boys.—Most original 'Elephant Boy). lan Roche. Most effective (Drummer Boys'). Bob Gibbs. Labi gave every satisfaction as judges. THANKS RETURNED I At the conclusion of the programme j Mr C. P. Reilly, chairman of the Ta- | kaka District High School sincerely 1 thanked the teachers, parents and com--1 mittee, who had done so much to make the function a success, and he thanked i sincerely also, the judges, musicians, and the children, who had all carried out their parts 100 per cent, and as ! chairman of the school committee he j appreciated to the full the combined; j help and special effort put forward by 1 all.
