Owing to a family bereavement Trevathan is unable to play in Saturday’s Ranfurly Shield game against Southland. Simon is also out of the team owing to an injured leg. Simpson replaces Simon as scrum half and Berghan now plays first five-eighths and Gillies second five-eighths. Mitchell replaces Gillies at centre and Werner takes Mitchell’s place on the wing.
